Though it comes at the cost of cultural preservation as the older people are more concerned about the heritage and identity, a country with a larger share of young people definitely enjoys advantages in terms of robust workforce and modern economic development.

Young people are engines of a national economic development. This age group consists of main workforce, and they are more adaptable to the ever-changing science and technological innovation that results in economic opportunities. In fact, young minds are more confident to take risks on undertaking daunting tasks, and eventually they are the ones who are coming up with global leading entrepreneurships that generates massive employments and economic growth for their countries. For instance, SpaceX, Tesla, Facebook etc. revolutionary companies were launched by young energetic people, and they have been contributing incredibly to their countries’ economy development.

However, lower share of aged population could risk a country’s cultural and identical heritages, because old people are more aware of these issues. Senior people passionately tend to pass their ethnical and lingual uniqueness to the next generations. In fact, cultural individuality is one of the key features of a country’s standout presentation in the global arena, and if there is a significantly lower number of old people, this feature might face the threat of extinction.

Nowadays, in some nations there is a large young population compared with that one formed by older people. There are both benefits and drawbacks of this situation because, even though a great number of young people in a country can boost its economy, this comes at the cost of people’s wise attitude and of overall security.

It is undeniable, that a great number of young people can boost a country’s economy by a reduction of its national debt, and by more people involved in active jobs. In fact, the pension scheme is considered the most important cause of the steep rise of the national debt of that nations in which there is a large number of old individuals, due to monthly payments made by government to retired people. In addition, a younger population, engaged in many jobs, such as manufacturing, services and any kind of intellectual work, can really let a country thrive, due to a stronger economy, and to more scientific progress.

On the contrary, a large young population can affect society, due to a less wise approach to adversities, and to an increased crime rate. This is especially true if we consider that when we are older, we develop more empathy, becoming more compassionate in general. Moreover, impatience, typical of young age, can have a detrimental impact on society because it can lead to lack of capacity to tackle difficulties, such as economic adversities, causing in some cases riots too. In addition, especially in these hurdles, there is also a crime rate surge, which can really endanger life of many people. Furthermore, an increased number of crimes can seriously damage economy of a country and cause a decline of jobs available.

In conclusion, although it comes at the cost of a smooth social interaction and safety, a large young population can boost economic and scientific progress. Weighing in all the options, I think that a great number of young people can really let a country flourish.
