Model Essay 3

Women often leave their career behind for raising their children and to take care of the elder members of the family. Some people argue that the government should financially assist them to make the society equal. I strongly disagree with this statement because it will shrink the overall economy by disincentivising working women.


To begin with, one drawback is the government subsidies that would increase the incentives for women to stay at home which in turn negatively impacts the labour markets. To be specific, mothers would drop out from jobs or be reluctant to re-enter workforce owning to the government financial aids to meet their daily costs. Take Taiwan parental social welfares as example, mothers while taking parental leaves could receive up to six months parental allowance based on 80% of the insured mothers’ average monthly insurance salaries. As per National Statistics in Taiwan, three quarters of new mothers opt to apply this policy and are absent from the job positions around six months. Thus, the compensations would dwindle the nation’s overall productivities.


Additionally, if the government decides to pay women who leave their jobs to care for their families a monthly payment, it will infuriate other women who work as professionals. If the women can make a living without working, then they will all give up their office jobs and become stay-at-home mothers. All women will eventually be compensated by the government for remaining at home, which will create a monumental pressure on public fund. Thus, paying moms who remain at home is bad for the economy as a whole.


To sum up, I am still of the opinion that it is not a wise policy to make payment to mothers from government agents, since it will demotivate women workforce significantly which has serious knock-on-effect on the national economic progress.



Sample Essay 4

At present, the high number of moms had resigned from their jobs after taking in charge of home duties. Some advocators state the government agents should provide financial supports for those out-of-office mothers. I totally agree with the concept since it is likely to enhance the birth rates and the quality of marriage.

To begin with, the financial aids from authorities are the most effective methods to boost the low birth rates, the biggest issues tackled by the developed countries. To be more specific, leaving the current jobs to take care of a new-born baby represents cutting down the part of the household income sources, resulting in significant impacts on the families with women who are the primary earners. However, the introduction of Paid Parental Leave schemes would help the families to service their daily expenses and increase their incentives to give birth a child. Thus, mothers with economic security can in turn increase their desires to have a baby.


Another supporting point is financial supports is a solid foundation for better quality of marriage. In other words, mothers with consistent disposable incomes from government sides will relieve the financial tension between the husband and wife. The negative feelings for sacrificing their careers with inequivalent payoffs will not fester in wives’ mind. In traditional Japanese cultures, women drop out the workforce and dive into the family with all-hearts. The whole family is going to depend on husband’s salary which is barely to cover family expenses. The financial burdens get on each other’s nerves. Therefore, the subsidies from public authorities are the useful tips for a happy marriage.


To sum up, I am still of the opinion that the direct compensation from government would increase the childbirth rate and cool stress between the couples.
