Model Answer 1
The first line graph illustrates the evolution of household electrical appliance ownership in a country from 1920 to 2019, while the second chart depicts the impact of these devices on the amount of time spent on household work per week by the citizens of this country.
Overall, the ownership of electrical appliances in households showed a significant increase over the course of the century, leading to a significant reduction in the amount of time spent on household work.
According to the graph, vacuum cleaners were only present in 30 percent of households, while washing machines were available in four out of ten families in 1920. Refrigerators were not commonly found during this period. However, by the 1940s, refrigerator ownership had increased dramatically, and almost half of the families possessed these three electric appliances in their homes. Ownership of electrical appliances continued to grow, and by the turn of the century, almost all households had fridges and vacuum cleaners, while washing machines were owned by over 70 percent of families, a number that continued to increase until 2019.
Remarkably, as families acquired more electrical appliances, the amount of household work, including cooking, cleaning, and laundry, decreased significantly. The number of hours spent doing such work decreased from 50 hours a week in 1920 to just 20 hours in 1960 and 10 hours in 2019.

Model Answer 2
The first line graph shows the proportionate changes in a nation's percentage of homes with electrical appliances - specifically a washing machine, refrigerator, and vacuum cleaner, from 1920 to 2019, while the second graphic shows the relationship between the ownership of appliances over the same time period and the weekly average amount of time spent on housekeeping.
Overall, it is evident that throughout the specified period, a considerable increase in the percentage of houses having electrical appliances was seen, and the time allotted for housekeeping also progressively reduced over this period.
Nearly no household in 1920 had a refrigerator, and the percentage of homes with a washing machine and a vacuum cleaner was about 40% and 30%, respectively. The proportion of refrigerators and vacuum cleaners owned by homes, however, levelled out in the years 1980 and 2000, respectively. After a little decline in the year 1960, however, the tendency of owning a washing machine increased and continued to expand somewhat until the end of the period.
The second graph, on the other hand, shows that families spent the most time on housekeeping on average each week in 1920 (about 50 hours per week), which also happened to be the year in which the least percentage of homes had electrical home equipment. Additionally, they continued to spend less hours on housekeeping, which fell to just under 10 hours per week in 2019. This is because the general number of families with electrical appliances increased during the time.

Model Answer 3
The first line graph illustrates a country’s proportional changes in the percentage of households that possessed the electrical appliances, namely, washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, during the period of 1920 to 2019, while the latter diagram depicts how the weekly average amount of time spent on housework is related to the appliance ownership in the same period.
Overall, it is noticeable that the proportion of households with electricity appliances increased significantly over the given period. In contrast, there was a gradual decline on the amount of time spent on housework.
In 1920, the percentage share of households with washing machine and vacuum cleaner were about 40% and 30%, respectively, and almost no household owned a refrigerator in that year. However, though the houses’ proportional holding of refrigerator and vacuum cleaner levelled off in the years 1980 and 2000, sequentially; after a slight fall in 1960, the trend of possessing washing machine went up and kept growing marginally till the end of the period.
On the other hand, the second graph demonstrates that people spent the highest weekly average housework hours (about 50 hours per week) in 1920 corresponding to the same year when the least percentage of households possessed the electrical home appliances. Also, as the overall percentage of households with electrical appliances kept increasing throughout the period, they continued spending less hours on housework, which dropped to nearly 10 hours per week in 2019.
Model Answer 4
The given line graphs represent the statistics of household appliance ownership and the duration of housework in a particular country, from the year 1920 to 2019.
Overall, there has been a significant increase in the ownership of household devices, leading to a notable reduction in the time spent doing household chores.
As per the first graph, the ownership of refrigerators was quite rare in 1920, but it increased drastically since 1930, and by the year 1980, every household owned one. A similar but more gradual trend can be observed with vacuum cleaners, which were owned by just three out of ten households a century ago but are now ubiquitous. The ownership of washing machines also increased from 40% to just over 70% in the past century.
The second line chart indicates a clear relationship between household appliance ownership and the amount of time spent on housework. The average number of hours spent doing household chores dropped significantly from 50 hours per week in 1920 to only 10 hours per week in 2019.
