The two tables illustrate the average number of hours of both male and female who worked for full-time and part-time overall in Europe and in the three individual countries, namely Greece, Netherlands, and the UK in the year 2002.


Overall, full-time male workers registered higher working hours than that of female workers. However, apart from the cases of Greece and the UK, part-time working hours followed a strikingly different trend. Moreover, both genders in Greece experience the highest working hours in terms of both full-time and part-time compared to that of the other countries.


In Greece, full-time and part-time male workers worked weekly about 42.5 and 30 hours, respectively, while about 39.9 and 29.3 hours of full-time and part-time female employees were recorded. A similar order was seen in the UK where working hours of both full and part-time men workers were higher than that of females. There was about 37.5 and 37 hours of full-time male and female workers compared to that of 29 and 28 hours of part-time male and female employees in this country.


Netherlands full-time employees in both genders registered the same working hours with 38, whereas 40.4 and 39.2 working hours of full-time employees in both genders were recorded in overall European average. Finally, the working hours of part-time females were higher than that of males in Netherlands with 29.2 and 28.3, respectively, whereas 34 and 32 were in case of overall European average working hours.

The given tables compare the average number of hours worked by part time and full-time workers in Greece, Netherlands and UK to European nations in 2002.


Overall, it is noticeable that males worked for longer hours than females in both positions in almost all given countries. The people in Greece spent more time on work in these two positions when compared with the people in other countries.


To begin with, Greece was the top country in the full time worker list, with 39.9 hours for women and 42.5 hours for men. This country was followed by Netherlands where both males and females worked for 38 hours in average. The British women spent 37 hours on working while men spent more than them, with 37.5 hours in average. The average working hours by females in European nations was 39.2 which was 0.8 hours lower than that of males. In general, the number of hours used by male on work was higher than that of women.


With regards to the part time workers, European countries were the top on the list, with 34 hours for women and 32 hours for men. However, a reverse trend can be seen in the numbers of hours worked by male and females in the remaining three countries. The second place in the list was Greece. Men in Greece had more part time hours, at 30, compared to 29.3 hours for females. Similarly, the number of hours worked by male and females in Netherland, had 28.3 hours and 29.2 hours, respectively. The British women and men worked the least amount of time, with 28 hours for the former one and 29 hours for later.
