Some individuals believe that working as a team is the main reason for the success of an organization, while others think that having the right leader is the prime cause for the success. Although it is the team who implement the decisions taken by the leaders, I believe that the ability to take the right decision at the right time by the leaders is what drives companies towards success.
On the one hand, it is the employees who are responsible to implement the strategies taken by the management of a company. An organization can have a world class business strategy, however if it is not executed properly by the operational level employees, then it is very unlikely that the company will gain any competitive advantage because of this strategy. In fact, employees are the first contact of a company product or service, therefore, the onus is on to them to work at best for the sake of their company’s success. For instance, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, a giant electric car company, rightly stated that the success of Tesla is due to the hard work and commitment of its employees.
However, another point of view argues that success of a corporation depends on how well its top management devise the right goals and strategies. The employees simply follow the instructions given by the management. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the leaders to ensure that the instructions given to the workers are right and that which will ensure success. For instance, an employee will not evaluate if the decision taken by the board is right or wrong, they will simply follow it. Therefore, it is the board who is fully responsible for the decision taken and its success.
To conclude, although employees implement the business decisions taken by the management on the ground, the board is responsible to ensure that they take the right decision which will ensure that the business goals are achieved.
