Overall, China and India alternately claimed first and second position in both years, but the second half of the list, where three new countries are anticipated to make the top 10, shows a significant shift. On the other side, Nigeria is expected to make the biggest jump, while Pakistan's status is projected to be steady during the course of the century.
China was ranked as the nation with the biggest population in 2019 with 1439 million people, followed by India (1380 million) and the United States (331 million), in that order. However, it is anticipated that India's population would increase by 200 million people at the same time as China's population will decrease by about 500 million. Additionally, it is predicted that Nigeria's population would increase, moving up from seventh place in 2019 to third place in 2100. India is therefore expected to top the list in 2100, followed by China, Nigeria, the United States, and Pakistan, in that order.
On the other hand, the other five countries of the list of 2019 are expected to go through a significant change as the three new countries, namely D. R. Congo, Ethiopia, and Tanzania, are estimated to come in the top 10 list replacing Bangladesh, Russia and Mexico. However, Pakistan is expected to remain always in the fifth position in the list.
