The column chart illustrates the average daily minimum and maximum levels of two air pollutants—Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and Dinitrous Oxide (N2O)—in four major cities: Los Angeles, Calcutta, Beijing, and Mexico City in the year 2000.


Overall, the chart shows that Mexico experienced the highest pollution levels compared to the other three cities. Both pollutants, Sulphur Dioxide and Dinitrous Oxide, were found in much larger concentrations in Mexico, indicating significantly higher air pollution in this city. In contrast, Los Angeles had the lowest presence of Sulphur Dioxide, with minimal levels reported. The fluctuations in pollution levels across the four cities demonstrate substantial regional differences in air quality.


In terms of Sulphur Dioxide, the minimum concentration in Los Angeles was as low as 1 unit, with a maximum of just 10 units. On the other hand, Mexico registered the highest range, with SO2 levels varying between 80 and 200 units. Calcutta had a minimum level of 47 units and a maximum of 59, whereas Beijing exhibited slightly more variation, ranging from 25 to 130 units.


When it comes to Dinitrous Oxide, Mexico again reported the highest levels, with concentrations ranging from a minimum of 113 to a peak of 207 units. In comparison, the other cities experienced far lower amounts. Los Angeles had a range from 39 to 104 units, Calcutta reported a fluctuation between 30 and 52 units, and Beijing recorded N2O levels between 14 and 80 units, showing a far smaller concentration than Mexico.
