The diagrams illustrate the information on yearly average travel distance and the travel time by each person across the EU and in five individual nations of the European Union.


Overall, Denmark leads the per person annual average travel distance both by car and the other stated modes. On the other hand, though the people in the United Kingdom predominantly use cars and travel the least distance by other modes, they spend the highest amount of time on roads per day, followed by Germany and Denmark.


With just over 12,000 and roughly 30,000 kilometres per person by car and by the other stated means, respectively, people in Denmark travel the highest distance each year. France, Italy, and the United Kingdom with about 12000, 11000 and 10000 kilometres, correspondingly, occupy the second, third and the fourth highest travel per person by car. However, when it comes to journey by other modes, such as bus, train, metro and bike, Italy occupies the second highest position with 1100 kilometres per year, while all the other 4 nations remain at around 1000 kilometres.


On the other hand, followed by Germany (about 46 minutes) and Denmark (about 38 minutes), people in the United Kingdom pass the highest amount of time on roads, spending roughly 48 minutes per person per day. It is worth noting that the people in Italy spend the least time on roads. Also, per person yearly average road travel in European Union is roughly 12,000 kilometres, spending about 30 minutes a day.
